Cinekid Script LAB selectie bekend

Cinekid welcomes 17 writers from 10 countries for the sixth edition of Cinekid Script LAB, a six-month project-driven initiative that focuses on the development of scripts for children’s films. In total 12 projects, comprising 10 live-action films, one animation and one documentary, are selected for the hands-on workshop that is designed to elevate each project to the next stage. The LAB begins during Cinekid for Professionals in Amsterdam in October, and runs through to the Berlinale in February 2020.

As well as the participation of promising new talents, Cinekid’s also delighted to welcome back a few regulars. One of these is Dorothée Van Den Berghe, who will work on her new feature film Tamar, produced by Menuetto Films. Her previous film Rosie & Moussa was selected for the very first edition of Cinekid Script LAB (2014-2015), the Junior Co-production Market (2016) and was screened at Cinekid 2018 where it won the Golden Lion for Best Children’s Film.

Likewise, Torfinn Iversen will attend the LAB with Uncle Egg – Searching for a Dad. His previous feature, Oskar’s America, screened at Cinekid 2017 in the Best Children’s Film Competition. Bragi Thor Hinriksson, director and writer of The Falcons (Cinekid 2018), will participate this year with Vera and the Third Stone.

Nienke Poelsma, Head of Cinekid for Professionals, comments: ‘I’m very proud of this year’s selection which is very rich in stories and talent, both emerging and proven! It is also fascinating to note how in 2019, 10 of the 17 participating writers are women. We can’t wait to work with all these professionals and I’m sure their stories will reach young audiences in the near future!’
