NBF/DDG themabijeenkomst ‘Tools for Trailers’ – update sprekers & nog enkele plekken vrij!

De NBF en DDG organiseren op a.s. vrijdag 18 november de themabijeenkomst ‘Tools for Trailers’, waar aandacht wordt besteed aan de manier waarop je een trailer in kunt zetten om je project zo aantrekkelijk mogelijk te promoten en financiers aan te trekken. Zie verder in dit bericht een update van de sprekers&moderator!

Een goede trailer is onontbeerlijk om je project goed in de markt te zetten en wordt steeds belangrijker voor het verkrijgen van financiering. Met de aangekondigde bezuinigingen op komst is er steeds minder geld beschikbaar; het is dus cruciaal om je te onderscheiden van andere projecten en je promotiestrategie zo aantrekkelijk mogelijk op te zetten. Een trailer kan hier een essentieel aspect van zijn.

Met een trailer kun je de sfeer weergeven van je productie, nieuwsgierigheid opwekken en/of de hoofdrolspeler voorstellen: een belangrijk middel om aan potentiële investeerders een goed beeld te geven van wat je met je project voor ogen hebt. In een vroeg stadium zou je dus al een trailer beschikbaar moeten hebben, echter wijst de praktijk uit dat dit nog lang niet in alle gevallen voorkomt, terwijl de financiers er steeds meer om vragen. Er valt dus nog veel winst te behalen, wat de reden is dat de NBF en DDG deze bijeenkomst organiseren in samenwerking met IDFA.

Gedurende de  middag bespreken we met internationale en nationale experts wat de ‘do’s en don’ts’ zijn bij het maken van een trailer en laten we enkele voorbeelden zien van goede en minder goede trailers, inclusief commentaar.

Ook is het voor leden mogelijk om je eigen trailer op de bijeenkomst te laten beoordelen door de experts! Grijp deze kans en meld je aan bij het (NBF/DDG)-kantoor vóór maandag 14 november.

Sprekers (onder voorbehoud):

Hugh Purcell (UK): Hugh Purcell spent 30 years producing documentaries for British radio and then television, mostly for the BBC. His speciality was history films for which (like everybody else!) he won several awards. 1987-1992 he was Managing Editor of the BBC TV Documentary Department which in those days broadcast 30 hours of documentary per week, on two channels. He then left to become a Director of Cafe productions and produced/directed several doc. series for BBC, C4, PBS,Discovery, Canal Plus (Spain and France) and The History Channel. He has taught in India, Cuba and Denmark  and is now Head of Studies at EsoDoc, an EU Media training programme encouraging documentaries about human rights.

Sigrid Dyekjær (Denemarken): Sigrid Dyekjær (born 1969) is the co-owner and sole producer at the highly successful production company Danish Documentary Production, co-owned by award-winning documentary filmmakers Eva Mulvad, Phie Ambo, Mikala Krogh and Pernille Rose Grønkjær. During the course of her careeer, Dyekjær has produced a number of internationally acclaimed award- winning documentary films, incl. ‘The Monastery’ (2006), ‘Enemies of Happiness (2006), ‘Mechanical Love’ (2007), ‘The Home Front’ (2010) ‘The Good Life’ (2010), ‘Love Addict’ (2011) and “Free the Mind” (2012).
Apart from producing, Dyekjær is also a freelance teacher at the National Danish Film School, has held a great number of masterclasses all over the world on developing documentary films, as well as being part of selection committees in many international forums.

Jan Rofekamp: Jan Rofekamp was born in Zurich, Switzerland and grew up in The Netherlands. Jan graduated at the Dutch Film Academy in Amsterdam, where he studied film production from 1968 to 1972. In The Netherlands, Jan worked in theatrical and non-theatrical/educational film distribution from 1972 to 1982. He then moved to Montreal, Canada, where he founded Films Transit International. In 2007, Films Transit International celebrated its 25th anniversary year.

Sean Farnel (moderator): Sean Farnel is an independent consultant and project manager specializing in creative documentary. Formerly the Director of Programmer at Hot Docs, and prior to that a Staff Programmer for the Toronto International Film Festival, he is currently focusing on endeavours to grow audiences and revenues for documentary.
